Quest Desginer/Level Designer
A Story of Strength is a side quest created for Divinity Original Sin 2. This quest is integrated in the first area of the game and introduces Henion, a clumsy elven alchemist, who's stuck on a rock, in the middle of the sea.

It was realised in parallel with other projects, for 3 months. On the first month I was focused on them document design, then the quest was realised during the two last months.

It was a solo work, using the Larian's property engine: The Divinity Engine.
WORK HIGHLIGHTS
Designed a 15 minutes quest

During my courses, our teacher introduced us to the main quest design tools and techniques, such as questflow.
During the pre-production of the map, the questflow helped me manage the narrative and mechanical pacing of the quest, create interesting encounters, and in the end give the players a cool experience.

For this student project, we needed to create a side quest for a game with a public editor.

I chose Divinity for many reasons, but the main element that made me choose it is the freedom of choices given by the game. With this in mind, it was one of the quest goals to propose different approaches to each problem.
Scripted gameplay in Lua-like

One of the challenges of this project was for me, to quickly learn and handle a brand new engine.
The scripting was a bit difficult at first, but with the help of the documentation, some research in the game existing levels and some time, I managed to script the entire quest with simple logic (ambush, trigger, line of sight, pathfinding).
Environment Design

A personal goal I had was to polish the environment, so it felt like a “real” level. By using terrain tools, mixing texture and terrain itself, I managed to create mechanically and visually interesting spaces.
Also, for environmental storytelling purposes, I dressed many small spaces, like scenes, with the engine assets.
